Here, your day begins with an invigorating breath of fresh mountain air, a savory breakfast ready and waiting for you, and
an open invitation to use your time any way you choose.
For second and third generations of families visiting the ranch, the value is clear: a wholesome environment, exciting outdoor
recreation, and a memorable family vacation. Your expectations are high and this ranch is proud to exceed them.
As a guest ranch handed down from one generation to the next, the family customs of hospitality, which made it the guest
ranch it is today, continue. The ranch offers an all-inclusive weeklong program with guests arriving and departing on
Saturday.
Nestled beneath tall ponderosa pine trees, the cabins feature knotty pine paneling, comfortable furnishings, and are
decorated in a warm western motif. You will feel at home in our two and three bedroom suites equipped with all the
amenities our guests expect for a week's stay.
All cabins feature private entrances, a relaxing sun deck, and bathrooms adjoining all bedrooms. Most also have fireplaces
and wet bars. Along with daily maid service, bath amenities include shampoo, lotion hand and body soap and from Gilchrist &
Soames and our trading post is stocked with toiletries in case you forget anything. Laundry facilities are available at no extra
charge.
The Owl's Nest and Killdeer cabins hearken back to days of old in Central Oregon. These units were brought over from the
Brooks Scanlon Timber Company where they were the living quarters at the logging camps. Renovated to suit a high
standard of comfort, the cabins still give one the feeling of a time long past.
The lodge is the perfect setting for relaxation after a day of fun. With decking extending the perimeter of the lodge, there is
plenty of space for visiting with new friends or finding a quiet spot overlooking our natural spring-fed pond for personal
reflection. The massive stone fireplace, vaulted ceiling and cozy overstuffed leather chairs in the living room also beckon an
early morning coffee before starting the day.
A small library, billiards, a game room, trading post, and puzzles and games can also be found in the lodge.
While traditional dude ranch activities such as horseback riding are paramount to your vacation at here, many other activities
to complete your experience are provided.
Gourmet and "Casino Night" - While the children are enjoying games and a sing along at the campout, it's adult's night back at
the ranch. Menu planning centers on a mature palette with wild game and gourmet dishes. Adult games such as poker and
roulette are offered for the evening.
Luncheon Ride - This all day ride takes you out to a beautiful site nestled beneath the trees for a full spread on the trail.
Massage - Ease your trail worn muscles with an hour-long massage. Further soothe your muscles with a soak in the hot tub
overlooking the natural spring-fed pond.
Fishing - The stocked trout pond is ideal for brushing up on casting as well as for serving as an introduction to fishing for the
younger guests.
In addition to these special activities, you will enjoy tennis, basketball, volleyball, a heated swimming pool, an outdoor spa,
horseshoes, billiards, Ping-Pong, hiking and jogging trails, and a host of indoor games and puzzles.
Horseback riding is a major focus here. The ranch owns it's own horses and knows their dispositions. Thus it is easily
possible to match them to riders based on both personality and skills level. Riders range from first-time beginners to those
who ride competitively.
With access to over 12,000 acres of land, the diverse terrain offers a variety of riding options with areas of high desert
Juniper pine and sagebrush as well as tall ponderosa pines, bitterbrush, and manzanita. Ridges and rim rock offer sweeping
views of the Central Cascade Mountains and open areas allow for cantering and off trail riding.
Morning rides are typically 2- 2 1/2 hours long and afternoon rides about an hour and a half long. Thursday is the all day ride
day complete with a full ranch lunch brought on the trail from the kitchen.
Riding groups usually consist of up to 6 guests and a wrangler. Because riders are matched in ability, rides range from
| "walking only" to those which spend a fair amount of time cantering. Usually, you will ride the same horse all week, allowing | |
both you and your horse to become acquainted and comfortable with one another.
