| Ranch | Code: | 690 |
This ranch is a 1280 acre working cattle and horse ranch in Southwestern Albert’s ranch country. It specializes in making
cowboy dreams come true . Ride with the wranglers through wide-open spaces to check the cattle, fences, spring
conditions etc. Help move cattle (when necessary), participate in a scenic ride through the Porcupine Hills where deer, elk
moose and bear are often sighted. You can go on a two or three day pack trip or an overnight trail ride to Head Smashed-In
Buffalo Jump (included in packages between June 15th to August 31st). Delicious home-cooked meals featuring ranch raised
Alberta beef will be served with the family. After hours, guests may relax and reflect on the day’s activities around the
campfire or in the family room with wood-burning stove, piano, library and board games.
Western Cow Camp: In order to enjoy the Western Cow Camp experiences guests should have riding experience and be
able to ride for long periods of time. The terrain is varied as the pace but most of the riding is done at a walk or trot. Cantering
or galloping is only done when necessary to bring cattle back into line or to keep them going into the right direction. A usual
day would see everyone in the saddle by 9:30am and back to camp at around 5:00pm. The first day everyone is in the
saddle by 11:00am, but the return to camp is not until 6:30 or 7:00pm. Guests do not need cattle handling experience, a
knowledgeable wrangler will instruct them.
Includes 1 night accommodation at ranch and 5 nights under canvas in the beautiful Porcupine Hills, base camp is at 4000’
elevation and has good quality canvas tents, outdoor toilet, portable shower and a dining tent. All meals from dinner on first
night to lunch on last day are included. Five to eight hours of riding daily on well-trained ranch horses most of which have
quarter-horse bloodlines and all have "cattle-sense". The use of warm winter weight sleeping bags and foam pad is
included. Tents are for 2 people, guests might have to share with a person of same sex.
