Ranch
Code:639

Everyone needs a little getaway from time to time. A retreat, an escape from the everyday, a hideout. The people at this

ranch know a thing or two about getting away from it all; there’s been a long history of people going there to do just that. The

owners have done their best to retain the essence of the Old West, right down to the bullet scars in the barn left during the

Johnson County Range War of 1892. This is an historic district listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. But what’s

history on a ranch without adventure? From sunup to sundown, you’ll find plenty to do- ranching, roping, riding, and more.

You can ride the Powder River Range in terrain that matches your riding skill. Riding in the Big Horn mountains is available

upon request, and an overnight backpack tour can also be arranged. If there’s a cowboy inside you, you’ll find him here. The

wranglers are on staff not only to teach riding skills and horse care, but to guide guests in ranch work as well. You might

very well participate in daily ranching operations such as roping, cattle work, range riding, and branding. When you’re of

horse there is no dearth of activities, though. You can examine Indian teepee rings from the Bozeman Trail era or participate

in living history presentations that bring to life the weapons, wagons, roping, riding, Native American culture, and music of

the Old West. If the fancy strikes you, you can even take a day trip to one of the many nearby historical sites. No matter

which activities you choose, when you escape to the ranch you’ll feel right at home in the carefully restored Victorian

dwellings. Each room is warm, inviting, and steeped in history. Whether you choose to explore the breathtaking mountains

and valleys of Powder River country or simply kick back on the porch and gaze up into the sparkling beauty of a star-filled

sky, you’ll find a stay to be a getaway like no other.
