At this ranch the owners Iris Behr and John Muir want to share their love for horseback riding and the great outdoors in an
unspoiled environment surrounded by the beauty of nature. They believe in "being one with nature" versus "overcoming
nature". In the spirit of this Earth philosophy, they help their guests reconnect themselves with the earth and also awaken
their awareness for a means to save Mother Earth. Their promise is to offer an adventure vacation with a philosophy that
celebrates life and generates joy and excitement. The six-day program offers activities scheduled throughout each day. You
can do as much or as little as you desire. Whether as exhilarating as horseback riding through the mountains or as relaxing
as sitting back and reading a book, the choice is yours. There are daily horseback rides, beginning to advanced centered
riding instructions, champagne brunch rides, all day rides, lunch rides, hay wagon rides, and barrel racing rodeos. If
horseback riding is not your favorite activity, there are plenty of other things for you to choose such as fishing, hiking - like
hikes to a gold mine and medicine trail hikes, where you learn about edible and medicinal plants, tracking and animal signs -
archery, trap, target and rifle shooting (additional costs), mountain biking, volley ball, a game of horseshoes or badminton,
swimming and nightly entertainment. If you like to get off the beaten path and into the unspoiled splendor of the country,
Hidden Creek Ranch is waiting for you.
Riding
At this ranch, horses, cowboys and the Western American ranching traditions are front and center in many of the activities.
After all, this is what ranch vacations are all about. If you want to celebrate life in a fun way that generates joy and
excitement you will find plenty of opportunity to do just that at Hidden Creek Ranch.
We start with a Horse Orientation, during which we will assign you a horse and saddle. If this horse matches your riding
abilities, it is yours for your stay - otherwise we will continue to fit you with a suitable mount. Once the two of you have an
understanding we will take a Ride that will allow you to get to know your horse and the Ranch better before our evening
Rides into the mountains.
We have a horse for every type of rider. For slow riders, we have slow horses; for fast riders, we have fast horses; for
those who have never ridden before, we have horses that have never been ridden before; and for those who don't like to
ride, we also have horses that don't like to be ridden!
Daily Trail Rides
Trail Rides are divided into small groups according to riding ability to ensure you a personal adventure every day. Trail rides
deep into timbered forests or in grassy meadows will take you into the mountains and our beautiful back country. You have a
variety of different riding levels to choose from in the mornings, up to four choices simultaneously, while afternoon rides are
suitable for the entire family.
Fast Trail Rides
Our Fast Rides travel through open valleys and mountain trails that have some long and level stretches where you can trot
and canter. This is your chance to ride all three gaits that our horses have to offer.
Winter Trail Rides
A quiet horseback ride through this sleeping landscape will slow your soul down to match winter's pace. During your stay
you can choose what kind of riding you would like to do. Depending on weather and snow conditions we offer scenic and
fast winter Trail Rides. Our Winter Trail Rides lead through forests where the trees are beautifully bent under the heavy load
of snow or open meadows in a winter wonderland surrounded by snow covered mountains. All of our rides are divided into
