Oklahoma

Ranch
Code:22

Explore a past that spans American Indians, oil and cattle barons, cowboys and pioneers of jazz - all in a setting that remains

remarkably pure and unspoiled. Did you know Oklahoma has more horses per capita than any other state? Another sign that

the ranching heritage is alive and well. Here at the Double J Ranch you get a taste of the cowboy life and culture - and a big

cup of campfire coffee. If you are already an experienced rider you can saddle your horse and ride at your heart's content -

even unaccompanied (at wrangler's discretion). There are plenty of horses - and trails to choose from. You will be matched

with your horse and take care of it on a daily basis, including saddling your horse (of course with help from the rancher!).

The ranch is a working cattle ranch and you can join the rancher with his daily chores, however cattle work is only available

when the cows need it not when the guests request it! Riding lessons are offered as well as roping lessons (fee), and you

can sharpen your skills in the ranch's large arena. Away from the ranch more unspoiled landscape of Oklahoma's heartland

invites you to ride for miles and miles. Back at the ranch relax while fishing at one of the for ponds on property, go hiking or

try a hand on target shooting. Nearby Sportman's Lake offers the opportunity to go swimming. In the evening you can relax

on your porch and watch the stars or play pool and darts in the ranch's "western saloon".
