On the eastern edge of Yellowstone National Park lies a valley unsurpassed in rugged mountain beauty, sparkling streams,

hidden lakes, and abundant wildlife (Teddy Roosevelt once called it "the most scenic in America"). Nestled among towering

pines and sunlit palisades, Absaroka Mountain Lodge extends a quiet welcome to visitors looking for a "Greater

Yellowstone" experience. Once you enter Gunbarrel Canyon, you're away from the sounds of the Yellowstone road, ready

to become part of this peaceful area named after the Crow Indian's word "home place". You'll be in the midst of unspoiled

country, in the heart of America's first national forest - the Shoshone National Forest - where deer, elk, moose, big horn

sheep and even buffalo roam.

Your days and nights at Absaroka Mountain Lodge will be filled with adventure and some of the simpler things we many

times take for granted - the scent of the pines, fresh mountain air, the camaraderie of new friend. And when these fun-filled

days are over you will sleep to the quiet music of whispering breezes and shimmering mountain streams.

You will be welcomed with real Western hospitality when you enter the historic lodge (built in 1910). The lodge's two

fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere for dining on generous home-cooked meals, visiting with new friends or enjoying your

favorite cocktail in the Gunbarrel Saloon. Casual living and Western atmosphere await you in our log cabins, each with a

private bath and located along Gunbarrel Creek.

Horseback Riding: you won't want to miss riding the trails from Absaroka Mountain Lodge. From the historic lodge you will

ride on trails that wind through the towering pines of the Shoshone National Forest, along sparkling creeks and rivers, up to

heights where the views are breathtaking.

Hiking wilderness trails, taking excursions into Yellowstone National Park (15 minutes away), riding the whitewater on river

rafting trips (optional), or visiting nearby Cody (less than an hour away) all await you.

In Cody you will find the world famous Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Old Trail Town, the Cody Night Rodeo along with

shopping and other historical sites
