This is a real cattle ranch located in Colorado’s cattle country. The owners of the ranch strive to give you a true western
ranch adventure. Saddle up and ride while they gather cattle off the range, doctor sick livestock, drive cattle, brand calves,
or check water and salt. You take part in any and all the cattle activities going on at the time of your visit. You can ride
top-notch ranch horses at any time, even unsupervised (of course this is only for the experienced rider and at wrangler’s
discretion). This is no resort; it is a full-fledged and totally operational cattle ranch. You must expect the unexpected! It’s
rustic and rugged, but it is the perfect place to experience the real cowboy life. Meals are simple, yet hearty, as are the
accommodations. And when you’re tired of riding you can swim in the pool, play horseshoes, hike, fish in the private lake, or
even play Bubba ball, the cowboy version of Bocci! In the evening you can ride the wagon to a campfire weather permitting
and sing-along, or just relax on the porch. This is real cattle ranching!
Cattle work is the core of a ranchers life. Ride the range helping with any cattle work that is going on at the time. There is lots
of personal attention and active participation in everything from saddling to sorting cattle. Excellent horses are provided, well
trained and suited to the guest's riding ability. All instruction necessary to complete the daily tasks successfully is provided
in a fun and enjoyable way. Learn from real stockmen how to read cattle, work cattle and improve riding and horsemanship
skills. The cattle establish the daily routine on the ranch.
Spring: (April, May and June): calving and branding as well as gathering and sorting and moving the pairs to summer
pastures. Fences must be checked. Short cattle drives consisting of one day are weekly events until all cattle are settled for
the summer.
Summer: (July, August and early September): Moving cattle, gathering bulls, checking water salt and fences, looking for
strays and fence jumpers and driving them back where they belong.
Fall: (late September, October): Gathering and sorting, vaccinating and weaning the calves, cattle drives occur several times
a week as we ship cattle to winter feedyards, draining water tanks and laying in feed for the winter.
