This ride takes place in the Great Divide Basin. southeast of Lander. There are approximately 450 head of wild horses in this

area.. Two campsites have been established. with each day's ride covering new ground. Riders will traverse varied terrain

to include mountains, forests. badlands and open plains. Participants should bring binoculars. as time will be spent watching

the horse herds. from a distance, in their natural state. On most days there will be opportunities for some good gallops.

Antelope are sure to be seen, as well as other wild game and it will be a we night if the howl of the coyote is not heard. Add

to this, the sighting of a golden eagle soaring over this vast, unpopulated area a11d you have a ride well worth

remembering.



Saturday: Arrive in Riverton and transfer to your motel accommodations in Lander. Enjoy dinner with your fellow riders at the

home of Skip and Vivian. Your guide and

hostess .

Sunday: Breakfast and depart by vehicle for the trailhead, where there will be an introduction to tile horses followed by a

leisurely 4-hour ride into Lost Creek Reservoir campsite where you will be camping for the first two nights.

Monday: Pack a lunch and depart after a hearty breakfast to begin me quest for wild horses! The day will consist of 4-6

hours in tile saddle. You’ll be riding the Red Desert.

Tuesday: Depart for Crooks Mountain; riding through terrain that changes dramatically from sage brush plains to forest

hillsides. The route should afford several opportunities to see herds of wild horses. The day win end at East Arapaho Creek;

your campsite for the duration of your trip.

Wednesday: Ride the country in the Crooks Mountain area. this is wonderful wild game habitat for antelope and wild horse

herds. It is evident that the Arapaho hunted here many years ago. Skip will be able to point out traces of Indian camp sites.

Thursday: Today is a little of everything. We call it "play day" . Riding through trees, across sage brush plains, practice what

you have learned and experienced during the week.

Friday: A last canter before ridding down off the mountain through wooded hills to the end of the trail. Return to Lander by

vehicle. There will be a farewell dinner and dancing at a local night club. Overnight at the motel in Lander.

Saturday: Transfer to Riverton Airport.

Remarks:Horses and tack: Riders are welcome to bring their own saddles.

The horses on this ride are chosen for their experience and

surefootedness in rough. mountainous terrain. Although

predominantly Quarterhorses. other breeds and crosses will be

among the remuda. Western-style riding and tack are used.

Climate: The climate in this part of Wyoming is changeable and

unpredictable due to the proximity to high mountains. Warm clothing

is of utmost necessity. The mornings and evenings call be quite

cool, 35-45 degrees, and the days warm, 75-85 degrees. Rainfall

is about 12 inches per year and the humidify is very low. Some

summer thunderstorms.
